I think a lot of great franchises have been ruined as time goes on because the original company who makes them gets spoiled by their success. They figure they can just go with whatever because they feel enough people will buy their game to make a profit.

I never got into RE to be honest. I AM however huge into Dragon Quest but I feel that series has remained true to its roots as it approaches its 35th anniversary.
