Google Alerts are tied to your Google account so you have to set up your own.
They get sent to your email. You choose whether you want them when they happen or as a long one once a day.

To set up an alert go to Gmail. In the upper right corner there is a small square of squares click it. You should get a bunch of apps. I don't think you'll see alerts there or at least I didn't. Click more at the bottom. Click more again. That should open a new tab or page. About half way down under the heading "Specialized Search" there is a bell for Alerts. Click that it will open a page with a form. Fill out the form.
